Why, Mercedes Benz, why? Why copy the most hideous car since the Aztek, the BMW X6?

For one simple reason; it sells.

I must admit that looks like a terrible car. Terrible. Also, before opening the post i thought it was the BMW. Its a total copy

I don't get it. People actually buy X6s? I've only seen one on the road.

It sold staggeringly well. Since its launch in 2008, they've sold over a quarter of a million.

I wouldn't call that staggering, but a half mil world wide?

Actually, I see lot's of them in Brazilian streets, despite the least expensive trim costing R$363k (~$140k USD) here.

A sad truth :(

WTF! That markup! I guess people in my area (minnesota) are more sensible and don't buy the pointless x6, rather its less useless brother the x5

Market share, yo

Just curious, $140k USD can buy a lot of much better cars in USA, right?
Brazilian car prices are high, and luxury car prices are even higher. Unfortunately, the "average Joe" buys a car mainly for status than for the car itself. In recent polls, most of people preffer buying a car with alloy wheels and a/c than ABS or disk brakes on the 4 wheels. Roughly 100% of the cars produced here come with drum brakes for the rear wheels, even cars which cost as much as R$150k.

Yes.

$140k will get you TWO C7 corvettes, so yeah y'all are getting shafted.

That means there are at least a half mil crazy people with money.

I'm sorry, there is just way too much X6 in this design. Complete ripoff of an already ugly and unnecessary vehicle.

Yeah they didn't even try on that one. Plunk a star on the front and there you have it. MB instead of BM.
